Parasitic Fibroid
As can be understood from its name, a parasitic fibroid is a fibroid that, like a parasite, is fed not from the place where it originated but from another part of the body.

What Is a Parasitic Fibroid?
As can be understood from its name, a parasitic fibroid is a fibroid that, like a parasite, is fed not from the place where it originated but from another part of the body. Pedunculated subserosal fibroids in particular grow over time and become unable to be fed from the region of the uterus from which they originated. Because they cannot be fed, they detach from the uterus and fall into the abdomen. They can continue to grow there by being fed like a parasite from the neighbouring organs in the region into which they have fallen. Sometimes pieces of fibroid left inside the abdomen after fibroid surgery may grow and cause a parasitic fibroid. This very rare situation may be thought of as a mass inside the abdomen and confused with a tumour. It must be diagnosed by ultrasound performed by experienced specialists and removed by an operation.
